My husband and got rid of satellite dish and shut off our tv for good last summer. It's been wonderful. Not only do I not even have access to the temptation of several untracked hours watching mindless drivel that will only poison my mind anyway, but we also saved a LOT of money. I do like some television, there are a lot of fun, educational and even some strong Christian programming on satellite... but you have to PAY for all the other garbage to get to it... and it just doesn't make sense. Occasionally we will rent a movie or a video game, it's so much better when you can control what you're letting into your mind and thereby influence you. Definitely one of the best decisions we ever made. You're right, we'd definitely be in a much better place if it were shut off a lot more.
