That is the list of do's and don'ts That Jesus told us to keep and teach to the nations. Of course there could be volumes written about each one, but there will be plenty of time for that later.
As far as Grace is concerned, I couldn’t be or do anything for the Lord were it not for His Grace. I hope to grow in Grace each and every day. As the apostle Paul says
1 Corinthians 15:10 - But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
I don’t know that I entirely agree with your notion to use common sense to temper our stand against unrighteousness and worldliness. Too much common sense being applied like that and the next thing ya know we will be thinking unrighteousness makes sense, don’t ya think? What ever happened to proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. And we don’t want to forget about this one: There is a way that seemeth right unto a man (common sense) but the end there of are the ways of death. We’ve got to remember that the mind of man is a terrible thing; it is very good at justifying things that God does not think too highly of. I don’t like beating a dead horse, so let’s move on, shall we?
As far as the world’s luxury items go, they are all wonderful and fine. All things are lawful, but as Paul said He did want to be brought under the power of any of them. All things are lawful, but all things are not profitable. Our time here on this earth is short, so we should we should apply our hearts to seeking wisdom. There are only 2 things that will last for all eternity, the souls of men and the word of God. Here is a wonderful saying that I heard once: The man who loves money uses people, but the man who loves people uses money.
I agree that we should not focus on Satan, but we should not be ignorant either of his devices.
He is a defeated foe, as Christ our victor made an open spectacle of him and all the powers of darkness as he died on the cross. Col 2
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
We now have the Kingdom authority as His Children to advance the Kingdom of God and destroy the works of the devil. Glory be to the Father! You talk about excitement? That is exciting!
We all have spiritual blind spots – I need daily exhortation and other brothers of different theological camps are crucial for me to interact with. I appreciate the time and thought you men have put forth here in these blogs, I don’t take it for granted. Thank You - and may the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Stever – in the crosshairs of the enemy, and smiling back at him :)
