Re: How "Right" we Are
by Xtian
The problem is that with globalization and all this "unity" talk, our rights are slowly erroding. For example... 1. I have the "right" to freedom of speech based on the 1st amendment. Lately the push is that this right is going away - soon Christians wont be able to talk about Jesus, sin, redemption, Hell, or anything true at all. Matter of fact more christians, who are actually obeying God's word, are being arresting for witnessing - so much for this right. Better witness while you still can. 2. I have the "right" to pursue life , liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not a big right if you cant talk about God (and obey Him). All your left with humanism (the right to please ourselves). That right will be around for a long time, after all its all about pleasing ourselves. 3. I have the "right" to believe in whatever God I choose Yep, but the modern "christian" church is teaching its followers that they can "believe" but dont teach on being obedient (its more about self esteem and feel good theology). Jesus says those that love Him obey His commands. Unfortunately the bible says that believing is not enough - even the demons believe and tremble. 4. I have the "right" to own property and the "right" to defend it. Actually that is erroding too, no one really owns their property any more... the bank does. With the new 40, 50 & 60 year loans (and longer loan terms in the works), soon no one will ever own their property. As far as defending it, your actually defending the banks property. 5. I have the "right" to travel freely from state to state without a passport or permission for the matter. That is coming under fire too and all in the name of safety from terrorism - national ID cards. Its been reported that if you dont have the ID, due to come out in 2008 if all goes well, you cannot fly or maybe even conduct banking transactions. With no money you cannot travel. Ummm... looks like the ten planks of communism to me. One of the problems with modern christianity today is that its focused on our rights as Americans instead of the right to serve God with our whole lives because He died for us. While I agree that the U.S. is the greatest nation on earth, let us not forget that holding our country above God is idolatry. Again if our rights have been given to us, then let us exercise them to glorify God. If they are taken away, then let us continue to glorify God. Too easy. Xtian
