Hey Shortstop:
Loved your a-political response. You are a brother worth emulating. You know...I'd be a happier individual if I just kept the TV news off and never blogged with any "politico's". What can I say, I'm a news junky. (God help me) Alas. I think Spaceship knows I harbor no animis for him personally. He(she?) may be a fine, upstanding Christian, though he somehow, somewhere caught the L-disease (probably in college). I just can't let some things go unchallenged, i.e., digs on my heroes (Jesus, Brad Stine, Shortstop, et al).
I also know Brad does not need an apologist in me. But, since I recognize in him all the things you commented about, I feel compelled to query those who would criticize him in an "uneven" way (like Spaceship).
It is fine by me if you are not politcal, Shortstop. But, I'm curious. Do you vote? If so, do you vote the man or the party? Are you an independent (a nice compromise for people who just can't make a stand)? Do you want a guy to represent you who holds to most of your opinions (beliefs)? Or does it even matter to you? My POV, or actually WV (world view) is shaped by my faith. It astounds me to find that people of faith can totally separate their faith from politics. I think these are the same people who leave their Christianity at the door when they go into work. I can't do that! And frankly, looking at the different platforms of the parties, and even with all the problems I see in my party, there is just no way my "faith" would allow me to vote for anyone (okay, maybe an "old" JFK kind of democrat) in the other party.
BTW, you are to be applauded for knowing who you are in Christ and to want to be in HIS army, as well as recruit for His army. But, we are also in this world (not of it). We live in a country where we have the freedom to help determine who will govern. These elected officials can very much impact the way we live and also affect our freedoms. I choose to make as informed a decision as I can when I vote, but I also understand I have a bias.
