Re: Trying to Evolve
by ziobuck
Brad: That was an inspiring post! Especially liked the feathers comment on your end in the end. I got to tell you Brad, I absolutely detest the word "evolve", even though I know the dictionary says, "to develop gradually". OKay, I admit it. In my mind, Evolution = myth (or LIE). It is a loaded word to me. I'm trying to evolve into accepting "evolve", but it is pure torture. My poser to you, Brad, is this: Don't you think you experienced true "tolerance", vice self-imposed mind evolution? (Dictionary definition of Tolerance: A fair and permissive attitude toward those who race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry) Granted, we have stereotypes of people that need to be broken down. That's where that exposure to someone, whom you normally would avoid, comes into play. Went to my son's wedding recently. His bride's mother divorced her father when she was young. She was basically raised by her mother and mother's lesbian friend. The mother also has a lesbian sister. Yeah, it was a stretching experience for me and I'm grateful to the Lord for it. Setting aside my obvious disapproval of the life style, all the women were loving individuals who had good stories to tell, loved to laugh and have a good time, and loved my family. I think I successfully engaged in dialogue without judgement, though watching the bride dance with the "father" figure made me squirm a little. I actually respect her for doing for my new daughter what her father couldn't do. It is a big task to help raise and financially support 3 kids that aren't even your own. Gosh Brad, I have feathers on my rump too!!! ---Ziobuck evolving?
