I can see that you have your partisan blinders firmly in place. My side confronts adversaries with "invective", your side with "grace". Well, I guess I'm a bit more realistic. Both sides could use a little help in the grace department. The President has not always been graceful in his response, and Democrats have not always been uncivil. Furthermore, I am not defined by my party leaders. Liberalism is not monolithic, just like conservatism. What they do has no effect on who I am. We can go back and forth on Clinton and Bush; I suspect neither of us would budge. It's obvious that President Clinton was guilty of excesses and abuses. It's also obvious that those who accused him of rape, murder, and despotism coarsened the political debate. Likewise, it's obvious that President Bush has undertaken some radical policies that can be (and have been) legitimately criticized. It's also true that many on the left have been guilty of hyperbole and extremism, calling the President a Nazi and disrespecting the office he holds. One of the drawbacks to having partisan allegiances is that we have a distorted view of reality. I tend not to hear the missteps and snafus of the Left, and you probably tend not to hear the mistakes of the Right. We have to be honest with ourselves and attempt to objectively evaluate reality.
