Re: Red State Resolutions 2006
by spaceship
I have this idea about Christians and politics. Instead of leveraging our votes to groups that really don't achieve anything for us, we should use our votes to demand more civility in Washington. Think about it: for about 30 years, Christians have sold their votes to the Republican party in exchange for outlawing abortion, and it hasn't happened. Abortions are more numerous in red states, and the number of abortions has actually increased under President Bush. What we need in this country is better cooperation and communication. After all, Christ has called on us to work together to make our world better. Of course, this means that folks like Mr. Stine, who specialize in partisan name-calling, will be out of a job, but I think it's a fair trade-off. These deep divisions that everyone is always talking about in Washington can be healed by the love of God.
