I was shocked....shocked, mind you, that the media would spread lies about your acquaintance, Michael Lohan.

It is one thing to get smeared by some "loser blogging from their mother's basement" (I ripped that phrase from Ann Coulter's article today) and another by a modern journalist writing a fact-challenged article from less than two reputable sources. Call me jaded, but I never (any more) assume a reporter has done his homework and verified the facts from multiple sources. Journalism today seems motivated by ratings, headline grabbing, and just plain sensationalism.

What I don't get is why a gullible public accepts this trash journalism? There should be a demand for accuracy in reporting, and when there isn't, the perps should be publicly rebuked, shamed, and generally held accountable for their wayward reporting. But no!!! 21st century journalists seem to understand the human condition, which puts down others to elevate themselves, or just enjoys having their ears tickled by notions agreeable to their own "worldviews".

I'll admit to a certain schadenfreude when I hear some reporting on some misfortune to someone I care little for (I know, that isn't a Chrisitan way to be). But, that's mostly from my thoughts that they're receiving their comeupance. The point is I tend NOT to question the reporter in some of these cases, when these are precisely the ones (regarding one's character) where we should raise a jauntice eye, true?

Well, perhaps I'll just continue to stay out of the public eye so I won't have the privilege to get what I so richly deserve.

Looking for the truth in the main stream media is like looking for a needle in a haystack, maybe a little exaggerated, but none the less, in an industry that is controlled and paid for by corporate big boys, how much truth can one expect to find from the constant flow verbal and written debris that flows form it’s stages?

I heard a description the other day of how the media works and I wonder if it may not be too far from the truth. If a story is repeated in the news and that same story is repeated on the other networks as well, then it is most likely corporate / government propaganda. If it is an isolated story, shown only once, then there may be some truth in it.

Like people looking for answers on the internet. You will find the exact answer you were looking for. You get to pick and choose what you really want the answer to be. Some of us will even take something as truth just because it sounds good, without even checking out the author. I wonder how many stories have been told in the media where someone is watching and thinking,,,,, Nothing could be further from the truth. You know, someone that was actually there and involved with all the players, knew all the ins and outs. And even if they did know all the ins and outs and were actually interviewed, does that mean that their perception is accurate.. They could be touched in the head. How many people have seen something, known something, and never been interviewed?.
I work on complex cases everyday where it takes a team to find the truth, and even then there are players involved, so called professionals, that dont have a clue as to whats going on. Not even when clinical documented notes are right in front of their face. Its because so many people are wrapped up in what they want to hear, that they create a false reality and perception of truth.
Even if one longs for truth, searches, exhausts all resources, you still may find nothing but lies.
The only thing that has ever proven itself to be true, is turning your life over to Jesus. The only thing I trust is Jesus.... and occasionally, someone that has Christ in them, does something good, building a temporary trust.......

I love a good laugh, I enjoy the talents of Brad and several comedians in the media today.. but overall, the most funny thing I have ever witnessed, is the human being as it fumbles and bumbles through this life... It is very few that find the way, the truth, and the life... and even we look funny every once in a while.

We would be smart, to realize we are not. We would be wise to understand there is very little that we truly know. We would be better off, being careful about what we hear from our fellow man... or amplified versions of Bibles......... the only reporting I have found to be truly reliable, is the words written in the inspired word of God. And even then, you have to be careful of the translation.. you wouldnt want to get lost, in translation.

Jeez, this is the just reason that I don't ever pay attention to the news. Because the media LOVES to twist the truth about lotsa stuff, even Christianity. Correction, ESPECIALLY about Christianity. I mean, the things that people say to me after I mention that I'm a christian, and the looks I get explain what the media is feeding the non-beleivers. It drives me crazy!!

P.S. I'm kinda new on this site, but I've watched your Put a Helmet On! DVD, Mr. Stine, and I use it as a motivation for myself and I share it with both christian and non-christian friends.

I think the media just doesn't want to face the real problem here: the Hollywood lifestyle. Every time one of these young stars gets into trouble because of drugs and alcohol, the left-stream media reports it as if it's a brand new phenomenon that has never happened before. But it has happened before and not only have these young people gotten into trouble with the law, but some have even died. Have you ever once heard the left-stream media talk about the problems with drinking and drugs at these Hollywood parties and clubs? I haven't. Certainly, Ms. Lohan and all these other young celebs bear the primary blame for their choices, but they wouldn't have a choice if it didn't exist in the first place.

Despite recent gains of Christians getting a foothold in Hollywood, it remains a very Godless place where the self is worshiped above all and when someone gets into trouble, they are taught to save themselves. This obviously works really well, since no one ever makes repeat visits to the multitude of rehab centers in the area. Oh, wait...
