One habit I have noticed from my fellow tribesman is the line they use often after a positive moment occurs in their life. Ex: "Look your tax return payed you money;Yeah,God is good!" Now I too believe that God is good but why do we say that line only after something "good" happens? Isn't God good no matter what occurs in our life? Shouldn't we be consistent in saying after we here someone backed into our car "Hey, God is good".

Oftentimes we interpret "good" things as only being what we believe to be positive in our lives. Yet the truth is that even what appears as tragic at the time must have some good quality behind it. Not the event ,but how we are affected by it. We grow more from pain then pleasure. No kid after being grounded for a failing grade say's "My parents are good". Yet as a parent we know that the good they will receive by being disciplined in order to prepare them for a more mature lifestyle characteristic is a "good" they not only don't often perceive , but will probably NOT perceive its value till many years later.

Trust me , when something bad happens to me I don't get it either and usually am quite hurt , frustrated and annoyed. But the habit of seeing God as good no matter what is a characteristic designed to help us through a more peacful and content life journey. God isn't a sound bite theology and refuses to be treated as such.

I only wish I was more mature in implementing this habit in my life. I fail at it daily and am frustrated at my immaturity , especially when I recognize I'll NEVER completely get this down till I'm no longer on this three dimensional plain. That sucks! But hey! "God is good".
