Brad - How does it feel to be one of the apostles that is involved in sugar coating the truth of the gospel with comedy? Is that how we should spread the gospel today?

My dad was never a Christian, but even he knew that the truth was painful. Not for the apostles of today it seems, the gospel is now used to get people laughing and is all about being comfortable with the human sin nature.

Many of these new 'Christians' of today don't even know that the first command of Christ is repentance.

Do you realize YOU come across as a GRACELESS Pharisee? You must be be a real hit at family reunions and office parties? I can only imagine what it would be like to be one of your kids under your judgemental and critical stare. Since you find it so easy to rebuke a fellow Christian on his livihood/ministry (in a public forum, no less), let me encourage you to try (you know...just...once in a while) to be led by the Spirit and remind you to sample the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness (Gal 5:22)). Gosh, didn't see any fruit of "criticalness" in there. Hmm.

BTW, bro', as far as my Chrisitian learning goes...Christ gave us two commands (see Mark 12): First, He told us to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." Then He gave His second command, "Love your neighbor as yourself." He even said there are no commandments greater than these. I wonder where that "repentance" command comes in play?

I wonder if your sarcastic post was a loving act of kindness to your Christian neighbor? Just wondering. I wonder if you had a bone to pick with Brad, you would have the courtesy to private message him? Or are you thinking you can get a mob of posters on your side?

ZioBuck, it is not a private matter that I speak of. Brad is a public speaker/communicator. My post is a public post. Public discussions of public speaking are the essence of free speech and the healthiest way for the truth of a man’s ideas to be assimilated into the minds of others. No one should be afraid of public discourse unless of course they have something to hide. The question is not of how my post "comes across", for that is a trivial matter that may be of no consequence in the end, it is based on personal and psychological sensitivities and shaped by culture. Truth is the all important ingredient here. If what I said is not true, I did not say it with any personal malice or wrath, and the content of it will simply swirl around like a small butterfly until it is blown away in the wind. If there is any truth in what I have said it will stick like an arrow and remain for all eternity, for all that is true is God's truth and His truth will last forever.

I don't think Christians who are willing to die for the sake of Christ should have to sacrifice truth for the sake of offending sinners or false prophets. Brad is a false prophet in my opinion and I am not hurting him at all by speaking what I believe is the truth. He'll have to deal with it sooner or later any how. Why not sooner? Better is open rebuke than hidden love. We are to speak the truth in Love, not suppress the truth with our hyper notions of offending the sin nature of man which basically consists of pride. Even the big boys who make their plans for this world will be brought low at some point, they plan their own destruction.

The two commands that you mentioned are summary commands, they sum up the whole of the Law and the prophets. Jesus taught 49 general commands that expand the 10 commandments and these are the commands He told his disciples to teach to the nations. Repentance is the first command that was recorded in the gospel. “Repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. Most church goers today will not get past the first command, sad to say.

My post was a loving act of kindness but Brad may not have the mind to see it that way. That again is ok and I will not be offended in the least, he may just smile and move on. The true test of my words will not come till the end, so we should just leave the judging up to the judge. Rest assured I do take your comments into consideration and I do try to put them into the context of the whole counsel of God. I appreciate your remarks and I do not necessarily disagree with everything you say. You may not have a monopoly on truth and wisdom but you do put an honest effort into your posts. I don’t mean for that to sound arrogant or condescending, for who am I but a wretched sinner saved by grace, and many have said that I myself have no discernment, that may or may not be true.

Anyhow, the truth marches on and I hope that I can keep in step with it.

I happened back to my blog and saw stever comment. 1st let me say I am not a false prophet since I'm not a prophet at all, I'm a comedian. Me and the other 3 guys are all believers out of mainstream comedy who want to help add are judeo/christian worldview to the entertainment marketplace.

2nd let me respond by saying I find your comment arrogant, phariseetical,self-righteous,cowardly,idiotic,judgemental,legalistic,and frankly the words of a jackass.

I am fed up with you and your kind.You don't know me or my walk with Christ but you libel me out of ignorance. You have attacked me, my family and questioned my walk.

I only wish we were to meet face to face to see if you would have the courage to say to my face what you so flippantly say on these boards , safely hidden behind a computer.

Jesus battled your kind his entire ministry and found it expedient to refer to you as "white-washed tombs, generation of vipers and tipped tables over in your direction.

Your naive comment that these accusations flitter away if not true shows how completely out of touch you are with the power of the media and the internet.

We are told in the Bible that "as much as it is in your power, be at peace with one another. You have made it very clear that peace is not your aim and so I consider you irrelevant to these boards.

When a particular truth is interpreted differently by two parties the hope is that one person changes their paradigm or, as fellow followers, we attempt to pray for and encourage each other on the long journey that is our Christian spirtuality.

Malice, attack and judgement is ALWAYS the wrong approach as it is the MO of the legalist. Let us struggle together with the belief that in a sincere seeking of Gods truth we will all grow and mayure.
