I am a sexist. By that I mean that I believe the two sexes ( or are there more, I can't keep up with the latest adjustments to what used to be called common sense) are not only different but have innate aspects of their gender that makes each superior to the other in some areas.
For example, men are stronger and faster than women. Always have been, always will be.You would have to be a tenured professor at Berkley to be unable to grasp that comment but remember we live in a country where many believe that WHAT you believe is more important than what is true; especially if what is true makes someone else feel inferior in any way.
Consequently since I am more concerned about what is true I am happy and eager to change my ,up till then ,passionate POV for the sake of getting closer to becoming a more complete individual.Prior to writing this column I even looked up sexism in the dictionary to confirm my understanding of it. Lo and behold an even more wonderful and illuminating definition occured that makes this blog even more relevant. Here is the dictionary definition of sexist: "A person who discriminates against WOMEN , as by thinking they are fit only for housework and child rearing, should be subserviant to men, etc.(italics mine...though ...who elses would they be? I pray daily that no one ever italicize my work while I'm writing.)
How convenient to create your own definition of oppression using a word,"sex", that belongs to both genders! This implies that only men can be sexist so when men turn up in sitcoms as the buffoon who isn't even as smart as his kids, or in commercials where we NEED our wives to bail us out of our stupidity, this is socially acceptable. Excuse me ladies but hippocracy just called and he wants to do lunch.
I believe in letting men have their own sacred space where women are not welcome. Not because we don't love you but because we don't want to waste any more time trying to explain why things that blow up are fun to watch, especially if they catch on fire and roll out of control.I don't want women on PGA events even if they can qualify unless they become un-sexist enough to let men try out for the LPGA. Of course if men did, there would be no LPGA cause the women couldn't compete.Truth sure is inconvenient huh?
I am married and have a daughter. I wish the best for both of them and will support anything they desire to invest their passion in. I don't think I am intrinsically superior to women except in some areas. What every American used to say after such a statement was "what's your point". Now it comes with anger, vitriol and the great cancer in America unreasonableness.Trumping truth for comfort is political correctnesses engine. That's why my shows attack it. I want to see political correctness die in my lifetime, but first...I want to watch it suffer. Anyone along for the ride?
