Nobody goes looking for enemies unless it's in the form of a commercial where "White Blast" toothpaste wants to wipeout plaque.Being a conservative comedian it was actually a little amazing to me how little flak I was taking from reviews on my DVD projects. I actually began to believe that maybe liberals were actually living up to their name and allowing my antithetical POV to be given access to the table of ideas. Ah yes to dream. With my new book coming out in March I got a little taste of what "open-mindedness" looks like in the hands of a liberal. In a review in Publishers Weekly I was accused of among other things the sin of believing marriage should be "a man and women commited to each other for the rest of their lives" ( who would of ever invisioned a time where fidelity and commitment was oppressive?) I also found humor in refusing to call stewardeses flight attendents , wondering why a black friend of mine refered to himself by 3 different titles , and essentially being naive enough to believe the 1st amendment applied to me as well.
The idea first of all that this is a book by a comedian seemed to slip through the reviewers alledged intellectual fingers. He also mentioned that my" ideology seemed to cloud my comedy" but that was only because I was taking my cues from the Bill Mahr's and Al Frankens playbook but then again my presumption that liberals are able to distribute objective critique from a politicaly correct bias was a childlike blunder on my part.
I don't want any of you reading this to accuse me of whining by the way , since having an opinion and being in the public eye virtually guarantees criticism on some level. Having the wherewithall to appreciate your enemies is a subtlety I am beginning to cultivate. In other words if you stand for anything w/o flinching you will be attacked. But to be attacked by a liberal reviewer is equivalent to being hated by Michael Moore...it's the proof that your doing something right for yourself and your country. Conservative books are written , believe it or not , FOR conservatives. It's to make them laugh since if you haven't noticed the mainstream liberal gatekeepers of media don't often allow our POV to exist in the entertainment industry.
To set the record straight I hate no one , I am not a racist , bigot ( in the evil sense of the word ) or a hatemonger. I also am not intimidated by those who use such slander as a means to censor dissent. I am proud that I am not a liberal idealogue if for no other reason then the fact that I refuse to believe every time someone is offended...I should care. I got a flash for you folks , if the truth hurts...it's your problem. The truth is supposed to hurt , you know why , because it never moves. The pain you feel is your walking further away from the very concept that was placed there to let you know when your drifting.
I don't attack people ( unless it's in an obvious comedic use of sarcasm ) but I am beholden to attack ideas that I believe are stupid. Leading that list is Political Correctness and I will always leverage my comedy to mock that relativistic , idiotic premise , that if we pretend people are nice , then they are. If we change words from "handicapped" to "challenged" then somehow I have "empowered" someone , and if I believe in moral absolutes it doesn't make me close-minded , it only means I believe "truth" is actually real and not a concept to be manipulated by the culture at large.
So let me end by saying that if you read my book and find it insulting , mean-spirited and ugly , it only means one thing , this book isn't for you , it's about you. Hopefully it at least provokes you to acquire a sense of humor before you die. Trust me , it will make you far more valuable to society plus it will save you the inconvenience of having to move to France everytime a conservative wins. We're here to stay get used to it.
