Ah the sounds of spring. The unduplicatable "crack" of a baseball hitting a wooden bat. Notice I used the word "crack" and not the unnatural "Ping" of an aluminum bat.Why aluminum bats ever caught on in a pastoral game is beyond me. The very idea of a metal alloy best used when pressed in sheets and wrapped around baked potatoes now have the dubious distinction of being shaped into that most American of sports equipment the bat which now sends "taters" 450 feet away in spite of the fact that it was all hard work and not chemically enhanced.( If ...   more »
