My hats off to the liberal minded hyppocrite! If anybody in this country has perfected the art of exploiting the 1st amendment it's the liberal mind. What is so wonderfully brilliant about their strategy is that it comes without guilt. We used to have guilt in this country that came from a common sense approach to how we should behave as a culture. Those who skirted this behavior were made to feel ashamed of themselves and then were summarily marched off to the village square where they were placed in stocks to allow the rest of us to see the punishment for idiocy and also give us something to do pre-tv by staring at the guy, laughing , and heaving cabbage at his head. (actually it was probably tomatoes but let's face it, cabbage is a funnier vegetable name). What makes the 1st amendment beautiful is that it is supposed to instill self imposed censorship which honored the fact that we are free to think and speak as we feel. In other words, the fact that you live in a country that allows you the freedom to burn it's flag is EXACTLY the reason why you shouldn't. You DON'T burn the flag to honor the fact that you CAN!!! I say all this as I watch this Ward Churchill controversy that allows a tenured professor to say that those who died in the world trade center were equivelent to Adolph Eichmann.I am not even going to comment on those statements as plenty of smarter people than me have already expressed disgust for his idealogical idiocy. What bothers me is that he is some kind of self appointed Native American activist who is of the "white european males are all evil" mentality which raises the question how can we trust your opinion on that concept Mr."CHURCHILL" since your descended from that same degenerate ilk? What I'm most curious about is why he continues to work, earn money, and live in such an oppresive country as ours? Certainly one would expect him to donate all of his earnings to political causes which are solely designed to accomplish one utopian goal, to finally, once and for all, remove all non natives from these shores and send us back where we came from.(All of us except Churchill as I'm sure he would expect to be made king). Goodness knows if it wasn't for the white imperialist this nation would still have Indians roaming free on their sacred land hunting buffalo with bow and arrow as the rest of us lose our souls while we utilize computers, jet travel and penicillin. The humor I find in these scenarios is not to excuse the abuse that the human in power has continually displayed towards the weaker human, and there is no question that human rights were horribly abused in the formation of this country. What I speak of is only the fact that the safety, freedom, income, full stomache, shelter, automobile, medical advances, unrestricted travel, universities, cheap clothing, access to free thought, AND the constitutional amendment that gives you the freedom and protection to think like a moron ALL exists because this country was conceived and created by the very group he claims to hate. His freedom to speak his mind against the "white man" exists because of the "white man's" ideas. He is caught in an endless loop that allows the liberal mind to continue to make a profit and create constituencies based on putting down this country without acknowledging who gave him this privilige in the first place.Yes when it comes to the liberal way of thinking, they are experts at 3 things. Narrow mindedness, ungratefullness and self imposed lobotomies.

Michael Medved spoke at the campus of my alma mater, Pacific Lutheran University, this past week. All I can say Brad, is, the dude cribbed your notes! Or perhaps I should say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Indubitably, old chap. He lifted a Pascal's Dilemma laugh line straight out of Ten Stupid Things. Hey, I'm an attorney, stuff like this does not go without notice. But it must be said, he is bringing them all around to chant your mantra there, Sahib. (John Wayne accent) And in answer to "why are the Bush haters so very very angry about it" Medved's reply: "They will hate any president in direct proportion to his manifested faith in Jesus Christ... this is nothing more than blatant 'Christ-o-phobia' based on the cognitive dissonance they feel due to what's missing from their lives." No truer words, my friend... When non-believers get so very angry at profound actions taken for the good of humankind, like we see happening today regarding Iraq, it makes those endtime prophecies seem, well... Prophetic. Freedom of speech isn't an "idea" of "the white man" or any other man, for that matter. Our freedoms are given to us by God, not by our government or culture. We do not owe our right of free speech to anyone but the Lord, though the fact that we can practice it in this country is due to the sacrifices of countless soldiers, journalists, leaders, and dissenters. As a liberal, I am incredibly grateful to the institutions and individuals that have preserved my rights, but I still believe that it is my duty to speak the truth when my leaders make mistakes. When I say that the war in Iraq has been a colossal failure of judgment, I am exercising my right to free speech as given me by my Creator. The Bill of Rights merely recognizes the unalienable rights of all people.

"Merely" recognizes the unalienable rights of all people? No marginalization of the genius of our founding fathers in that last statement. I'm probably not as well versed as you, but could you tell me of any other nation on this planet that recognizes the unalienable rights of all people? Seems so obvious to us Christians, though, doesn't it? Why? Because we are His children and His Spirit reveals the truth of that. Our founding fathers were mostly believers. Though I agree with you that our freedoms are given to us by God, man (read governments) can take them away; yet ours enforces these "freedoms". BTW, I couldn't disagree with you more about the "colossal" failure of judgment in going to war in Iraq. Despite most of the "lost" world's antagonism on this isssue, despite the UN Oil-for-food debacle, despite the fact that the Iraqi insurgency is being financed and run by non-Iraqi Al Queda (and sympathizers), under US leadership we've taken away a pivotal destabilizing government in the region, stopped the genocide of children by Sadam under the oil-for-food umbrella, stopped the genocide of races of people and mass graves, stopped the rape rooms run by Sadam's "bad seed" offsprings, rebuilt the decaying Iraqi infrastructure, and brought freedom to 25 million people. Also, we cannot be threatened by WMD (It went somewhere. Syria?). or have our planes shot at on a daily basis, or have an attempt made to assassinate our president (that alone is reason to go to war). Colossal failure? You need to get off that 'Move-On.org" website.

Dude, you gotta blog more often! Not an essay. Or even a rant all the time.
But those, it must be said, are what we live for. Nah, rip some news story to shreds in true blogger fashion: http://www.pscottcummins.com/blog/2005/02/us-says-canada-relinquishing.html Trackbacks
